Cairo, Feb 6 (ANI): Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will be moved shortly to a prison hospital for the first time since his arrest in April 2011.
Egyptian officials said the hospital in Tora Prison in Cairo would be upgraded in 'record time,' but that there is no set date for the move.
Mubarak was held in custody first at a hospital in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh and later at a military hospital outside Cairo, Fox News reports.
The officials said nearly 50 stalwarts of the Mubarak regime would be shifted out of Tora to five different jails in the Cairo area. They include Mubarak's two sons.
Mubarak was charged for allegedly ordering police to fire on protesters during the early days of a nearly three-week uprising that led to the deaths of over 850 mostly young activists and ended in Mubarak's resignation in February.
Mubarak's two sons, Gamal and Alaa faced corruption charges in the same trial. Two police commanders have been charged with gross negligence. (ANI)
