Anonymous leaks FBI and Scotland Yard conversation discussing hacking investigations

London, Sat, 04 Feb 2012 ANI

London, Feb 4 (ANI): Notorious Internet hacking group Anonymous has intercepted and published a recording of a conference call between Scotland Yard in the UK and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The conversation included a discussion over efforts against hackers, and updates over on-going court cases related to Internet hacking.

The Anonymous hacker managed to listen in to the call after accessing an FBI email that gave details of the intended call. The email was also posted online, The Telegraph reports.

The FBI email referred to an investigation on both sides of the Atlantic into a number of hacking groups.

"A conference call is planned for next Tuesday (January 17, 2012) to discuss the on-going investigations related to Anonymous, Lulzsec, Antisec, and other associated splinter groups," the e-mail read.

The recording, which was posted on Youtube, refereed to the on-going court case against Ryan Cleary, a 15-year-old boy arrested last June in the UK for his alleged role in the group LulzSec.

Meanwhile, the FBI confirmed hackers had intercepted a confidential phone call, and said it was hunting those responsible.

"The information was intended for law enforcement officers only and was illegally obtained. A criminal investigation is under way to identify and hold accountable those responsible," the paper quoted an FBI spokesman, as saying.

A Scotland Yard spokesman also said that they are aware of the video, which relates to an FBI conference call involving a PCeU [Police Central e-crime Unit] representative, and that the matter is currently being investigated. (ANI)
