Jailed Internet millionaire protests against attention from female inmates

Auckland (New Zealand), Fri, 03 Feb 2012 ANI

Auckland (New Zealand), Feb.3 (ANI): Jailed Internet millionaire Kim Dotcom has complained of getting unwanted attention from an expert forger and women inmates wanting to befriend him.

Dotcom told the Auckland High Court while appealing for bail that there were many people who had tried to contact him since he had been jailed on January 20.

tuff.co.nz quoted him, as saying: "If people were to approach me and to offer such a service, I would tell them to go to hell," he said.

He added: "I have no desire to run away."

Dotcom, a German millionaire and founder of file-sharing site Megaupload, was arrested on behalf of United States authorities, including the FBI, in a police raid at his 30 million New Zealand dollars Coatesville mansion.

US authorities were seeking his extradition. They alleged Dotcom's company breached copyright laws costing copyright owners more than 500 million USD in what they called the "Mega Conspiracy".

The 38-year-old, who was previously convicted of hacking and insider trading, denied any wrongdoing. (ANI)
