Washington, Jan 31 (ANI): Newt Gingrich has been asked by a music company to stop using its song 'Eye of the Tiger' for his campaigns and pay them damages for its improper use.
Rude Music Inc, owned by a member of the band 'Survivor', has the rights to the 1982 song made popular by the film 'Rocky III'.
The company filed a suit on Tuesday in an Illinois federal court claiming that Gingrich had been improperly using the song to further his political agenda.
It says that he used the song at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2010, Fox News reported.
RMI claims that Gingrich and his campaign team, Newt 2012 Inc recently used the song during a campaign event in Doylestown, Pennsylvania too. It quoted the Newt 2012 Inc website as saying that "Mr Gingrich entered the packed Moose Lodge for a speech as the song pulsed."
The company is also suing the American Conservative Union for republishing various clips featuring Gingrich and the 'Eye of the Tiger' song without permission.
It has asked a judge to order Gingrich and his team to stop using the song as soon as possible and pay them unspecified damages. (ANI)
