Kapurthala/Ludhiana, Jan 30 (ANI): Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said on Monday that it was confident of winning a second consecutive term.
Former chief minister Bibi Jagir Kaur, a candidate for SAD from Bholath, said: "Shiromani Akali Dal has always served the people of Punjab and the enthusiasm among the people this time is very high which I have never seen before. The trust people have in Prakash Singh Badal's government and the enthusiasm they have showed, I believe that we will register a great win again this time."
Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee president, Avtar Singh Makkar said: "I believe that this time there is great enthusiasm among people and viewing this I think there will be an increase in the poll percentage. I also believe that under the five year rule of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP a lot of development has taken place."
Around 17.6 million people will decide the fate of 1,078 candidates, including two chief ministerial aspirants, Parkash Singh Badal of the ruling SAD-BJP coalition and Amarinder Singh of the main state opposition Congress Party. (ANI)
