New Delhi, Jan 22 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, on Sunday confirmed his plan to spearhead campaigns and rallies in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to mediapersons after meeting President Pratibha Devisingh Patil in New Delhi, Chauhan extended support to Uma Bharti and said he would carry out rallies for the senior BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh.
"I will go for election campaigning in Uttar Pradesh. I will also go to the Charkhari assembly constituency, and will conduct rallies and campaigns in support of Uma Bharti," said Chouhan.
Reflecting on his meeting with President Patil, Chouhan said he had urged the President to direct the Central Government to grant the go ahead to Madhya Pradesh for enforcing an anti-graft legislation.
"All officials, right from the chief minister to the corporator, from the chief secretary to the lowest clerk, are included in the Bill ( Madhya Pradesh anti-graft legislation). But we are yet to receive permission form the Central Government to make it into a law and enforce it in the fight against corruption," said Chouhan.
In Uttar Pradesh, polls will be held in seven phases between February and March. The key parties who are in fray for the Uttar Pradesh crown this time, are the BJP, Congress, state ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and state's main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP). (ANI)
