Co-CEOs battle for sole control of 'Archie' comic empire

New York, Jan.19 (ANI): In a recent legal filing, Jonathan Goldwater has criticized his Archie Comics' co-CEO, Nancy Silberkleit, of running the company into ground.

According to the New York Daily News, former state senator Carl Kruger paid 1.42 million dollars for attorney, according to campaign finance filings.

Goldwater and Silberkleit, who are behind cartoon icons Jughead, Betty and Veronica, are locked in a bitter war to become the lone CEO at Riverdale High.

In the latest legal blast, Goldwater - grandson of one of the founders of Archie Comic Publications - sued to force Silberkleit's ouster as director and co-CEO of the 73-year-old business.

Putting Silberkleit in permanent corporate detention was the only sure way of saving Archie Andrews and his beloved pals, Goldwater said.

"Unless Silberkleit is removed as a director and an officer, the Company - an iconic American company - is in serious danger of failing and being liquidated," Goldwater charged in his 11-page filing this week.

Last year, he filed another suit asking a judge to bar his purportedly sharp-tongued and disruptive partner from setting foot inside their Mamaroneck, N.Y., shop.

Workers at Archie enterprises claimed her erratic behavior included referring to male employees as "penises" and ordering one worker to pull his pants down.

Silberkleit, a former third-grade art teacher who inherited her position after her husband's 2008 death, ignored a judge's order to limit her role in company business, the new lawsuit claimed.

Her negotiations for a Broadway show featuring Archie characters created enormous problems, the suit charged.

he court papers then ridiculed Silberkleit's inability to grasp the relationship between various forms of media.

A company spokesman declined further comment on the suit.

Silberkleit's late husband was the son of one of the company's founders.

Her step-children are challenging their father's will in a separate lawsuit. (ANI)
