New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Reacting to former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) chairperson Suresh Kalmadi getting out of jail on bail, Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary D. Raja on Thursday said that nobody who is guilty should go free.
"I think, in this case, nobody who is found guilty should go free. Those who have looted the country in the name of organising the games should be punished and prosecuted. The law will take its own course," he told media here.
"The case will continue. Those are who found guilty, will be prosecuted according to law," he added.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday granted bail to Kalmadi on a surety of Rs five lakhs.
Besides Kalmadi, former CWG organizing committee director general V K Verma was also granted bail by the court.
Kalmadi and Verma had moved an appeal before the court for basis of the Supreme Court granting bail to the accused in the 2G telecom case.
The trial court in June last year rejected Kalmadi's bail plea, after which he approached the High Court.
Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI on April 25, 2010 for fraud and conspiring with other officers of the Organising Committee for overpaying a Swiss firm Rs.95 crores for timing and scorekeeping equipment that was used at different venues during the Commonwealth Games.
The 66-year-old has also been accused of sanctioning payments to AM Films and AM Car at rates that were hugely inflated. (ANI)
