Grossman denied permission to visit Pakistan amid political crisis: US

Islamabad, Jan 18 (ANI): The US State Department has confirmed that American special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman wanted to visit Islamabad, but he was not allowed entry because of the ongoing political crisis there.

 

The News quoted the US State Department Spokesman, as insisting that Washington wants to have better relations with Pakistan.

 

Pakistan is undergoing political turmoil over the Memo Gate scandal, and the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) issue, leading Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani almost on the verge of resigning.

 

Mansoor Ijaz, the Pakistani-American businessman key in the Memo Gate scandal, has reportedly received his visa and is expected to arrive at Chaklala Airbase in Pakistan on January 24th.

 

Ijaz would give his testimony to the Supreme Court in the Memo Gate scandal. (ANI)
