London, Jan 15 (ANI): Jeremy Clarkson has bought his daughter a bargain-basement Ford Fiesta, despite her demand for a high-end car.
17 year-old Emily Clarkson told her father she would prefer a 40,000-pound Shelby Mustang as her first car but the Top Gear presenter had opted for something he considers far safer.
"When it's your daughter who's about to poke her headlights into a maelstrom of the weak, the mad and the blind, you need to sit down with the spec sheets and do some proper research," the Daily Express quoted the TV host as saying.
"All the things that usually matter suddenly don't any more.
"All I was interested in was safety.
"I wanted a car with 2,000 airbags. I wanted a bouncy castle with wipers!
Clarkson, 51, still under fire for his comments about India on the latest Top Gear Christmas special, says he decided the "more metal, the better".
"I wanted my daughter to have something absolutely enormous.
"A Volvo with elephantitis. That rig they used for moving space shuttles.
"I wanted Lincolnshire with wheels.
He finally settled on the Fiesta going against his daughters choice, with modifications, which might not please her but will make his co-presenters smile.
"I ordered her new car in white and asked for it to be fitted with two blue stripes.
"This made it look absolutely ridiculous.
"It was a koala bear in a Superman outfit. A puppy dog in boxing gloves.
"Actually, it looked like an albino bison on a unicycle, so, to get round that, I asked for 17-inch wheels, which have been painted white.
"Throw in the day-time running lights from next year's model, a oof spoiler, side skirts and a front air dam, and the result, though I say so myself, is absolutely effing brilliant.
"It's very Essex, thanks to the white stilettos, but what's wrong with that when you're 17? Nothing.
He was happy with performance, too.
"The best thing about this car is this: it is gloriously slow," he added. (ANI)
