Islamabad , Sun, 03 Oct 2010 ANI

Islamabad, Oct 3 (ANI): Another godown laden with stolen items of NATO forces, including combat material, has been unearthed in the Pakistani capital's rural area of Tarnol during a police raid, and four people have also been arrested in this regard.

Police sources disclosed that the dealer sold the stolen NATO supplies to individuals, and a large quantity of these items were also purchased by militants, the Dawn reported.

Police and anti-terrorism squad personnel cordoned off the area of Dhok Paracha in Tarnol and raided the godown in a house, and found a large quantity of items used by the US-led armed forces.

Besides armed personnel carriers, helicopter accessories and other vehicles, the seized items also included sophisticated equipments used during combat, communication system, wireless sets, heavy duty generators, mounts, motors, plastic boxes, almirahs, filters, vacuum cleaners, mountain divers' kit, stretchers, water bags, senior officer bags, shoes and gloves

This raid was conducted in response to the information gathered from four people arrested a day before, when the police had seized NATO items from another godown in the same locality and caught the accused.

A senior police officer said that out of these four people, two were buyers who had come from Landi Kotal to purchase generators and some other goods, while the other two owned the godown.

The accused revealed that there were more godowns in Islamabad as well as other cities, where huge quantities of stolen NATO supply items were kept, he added.

"Normally the transporters stole some items from the supplies and some times they unload the entire containers," the officer quoted the accused as saying.

"Whenever, the entire container was stolen for them, the transporters set them in fire on the pretext of a Talibani attack," he revealed. (ANI)
