Dec 13: Metropolitan cities are not only the hub of getting new jobs but several smaller cities (tier-II city) have now been piercing the job quota in terms of new opening job, says ASSOCHAM in its latest press release on the basis of its recent survey.
ASSOCHAM has conducted a study on “Trends of Job Opening” through its arm ASSOCHAM Eco Pulse (AEP) that was based on the analysis of sample vacancies posted by several companies on top job sites, daily newspapers, journals and magazines published during four months periods of August-November 2007, said ASSOCHAM on its press release on Wednesday December 12, 2007.
“The growth momentum in smaller cities has begun to pick up. If adequate attention is provided to build infrastructure and nurturing the talent pool in these emerging cities, the contribution of these cities in employment generation would increase manifold”, said ASSOCHAM president Venugopal N Dhoot in the release statement.
Chandigarh has surprisingly surpassed Kolkata and Hyderabad, two among the six India’s Metropolitan cities and joined the top 5 elite-group of employment opportunities. The top 15 tier–II cities have cumulatively grasped the 20 percent of total jobs in India as AEP studies says.
In the total job openings, IT and IT-enabled services have still sustained its top two positions respectively despite of dollar depreciation while teachers, professors and faculties have gained the third position in the tier-II cities. Finance, Real Estate and Telecom sectors have registered on the 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th position simultaneously in top 15 cities cumulatively while traditional jobs have not get position in top 5 in both tier cities.
In tier-II top 10 cities, Chandigargh has topped the chart by registering 12 percent of total job opportunities available in the 2 nd class cities. Vadodara (7%), Jaipur (7%), Agra (6%), and Ahmedabad (6%) are its followers by capturing almost 50 percent of total job opportunities filed on the job portals. Ludhiyana (5.21%), Bhopal (4%), Kanpur (4%) and Vijaywada (4%) have also in the top-10 tier-II cities for providing maximum job opportunities in India.
While Delhi-NCR has evolved the top most job providing hub with a total share of 37.5 percent as per AEP study reports. The economic capital of India is now on the 2 nd position securing 9.2 percent of total job share while Chennai (6.4), Bangalore (5.6), Kolkata (2.7) and Hyderabad (2.3) are 3 rd, 4 th, 6 th and 7 th position while Chandigarh has cemented the 5 th position.
As per job sector, IT has generated the maximum portion of total jobs comprising 29 percent while IT-enabled services has shared the 11 percent of the total job openings in Tier II cities. The less expensive cities like Agra, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mangalore and Pune were on the top list of job searching in the IT sector as per study reported.
The financial services sector has cornered the third rank with 5 per cent share in which Chandigarh, Pune and Jaipur were recorded on the top ranked in finance-related jobs in tier-II cities.
The rapid growth of real estate sector has also influenced to the 2 nd class big cities and has created several jobs in this sector sharing 4 percent of overall jobs. The entry of DLF, L&T and other big construction companies including rapidly growing Unitech, Parshvnath have generated boom in this sector in the far behind areas. Real Estate sector has slotted the 4 th rank as per last four months calculation indicates. Amritsar and Chandigarh have on the top in the smaller cities in this sector.
The booming in telecom sector with rapid growth rate has also been emerged among the top service providing sectors have sealed the 5 th position in overall service providing areas. As much as 8-millions of subscribers are increasing every month in telecom sector comprising mobile and land line phones.
For conducting the study, AEP has made the base the of sample of 4400 vacancies posted by around 1000 companies in the national and regional dailies, journals and job portals during August-November 2007, said ASSOCHAM in the recent press release.
