Raipur , Mon, 30 Aug 2010 ANI

Raipur, Aug 30 (ANI): The Director General of Border Security Force (BSF), Raman Srivastava, the Army and police paid tribute to three troopers, who were killed in an ambush laid by the Maoists, on Monday in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district.

Srivastava said that he expected the Maoists threat to be over soon.

"Your expectation is justified and is a right hope, and it is a matter of only two-and-a-half years or so when the Maoists threat would be over," said Srivastava.

The troopers were killed on Sunday in Kanker region.

About 100-armed Maoists attacked a search operation team in the forests near Bhuski village in the district.

The attack took place in the morning when a team of police and the BSF were conducting a routine search operation.

Reportedly, at least three Maoists were killed in exchange of firing after the ambush. By Shivshankar Sarathi (ANI)
