UK middle-distance runner to decide on participation in 2010 Commonwealth Games

London , Mon, 16 Aug 2010 ANI

London, Aug 16 (ANI): The Kent middle-distance runner Lisa Dobriskey reportedly would decide today whether to defend her 1500-metre title at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October this year.

Dobriskey won her first major medal over 1,500 metres in Melbourne in 2006 and added a silver at last year's World Championships.

The 26-year-old from Kent missed out on more glory at the recent European Championships in Barcelona after an injury-hit preparation.

However, she admits to having a soft spot for the Commonwealth Games.

"I'm quite positive about it. I'd like to do it. The only downside is that it makes the season so long. That delays the winter preparation and then you're stepping into next year a little bit," The Sun quoted Dobriskey, as saying.

"But I think it can be done. We just need to go through all the pros and cons and really sit down and look to see how the training will fit in and how I'll respond just coming off a championship," she added. (ANI)
