Dec 06: One or two couple of lipstick coating can transform a dull face in to ‘wow’ face but it can be a source ofdangerous and fatal breast cancer in women as per new study said in its report.
A joint study conducted by the researchers of Fox Chase Cancer Centre in Philadelphia and University of Alabama in Birmingham, US over the rats revealing the facts that the chemical being used for providing glossy effects in lipsticks can be harmful and affects the breast genomic profile as per study said in a report. It can also imbalance the ratio of uterine weight to body weight as per study said.
According to Dr. Russo, the head of researchers, “The chemicals found in the cosmetics could trigger breast cancer” as Butyl Benzyl Phthalate (BBP) is most likely to be used in the cosmetics industry to make products glossy that can hamper in developing healthy breast tissues as researchers found in their study.
The study was conducted over lactating rodents through feeding them BBP that was then absorbed by their progeny through their breast milk. Afterward, the scientist observed the hiked level of that chemical in their baby rats after theirs’ birth. The scientist found that the chemical distorted the genetic structure of cells in the mammary glands of young female rats.
The researchers also revealed this fact that the BBP used in the cosmetics could raise the risk of breast cancer via assimilating in our fat cells. When lipsticks or any other cosmetics that has the BBP substance are applied on skin, the adipose tissues of the skin absorb it vigorously and stimulate the female sex hormone oestrogen, which arouse the development of breast tissues, as per studies said.
BBP, the phthalate family chemicals and man-made substance, is vastly used as a plasticizer that is used as a chemical addition for softening polymers which is applied in several house hold products like pipes, vinyl floor tiles and carpet backing etc. This type of chemical is known to be an endocrine disruptor that is known to damage wildlife and generating neurological disorder in human beings. Besides this it also found the liable substance in reducing sperms as the reports said.
