Trader killed by dacoits in Chhattarpur

Chhattarpur (MP), Sat, 13 Mar 2010 ANI

Chhattarpur (Madhya Pradesh), March 13 (ANI): Agitated local traders and residents took to streets and besieged a police station in Chhattarpur town of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday (March 13) over the killing of a local trader this week.

The trader was shot and robbed in a street on Friday (March 12) night by a group of three dacoits when he was returning home at night.

The incident has irritated locals here, as they are already annoyed over the growing number of crime-related incidents here.

On Saturday, these people surrounded the police station and vandalised vehicles and even set nearby shops afire.

"Yesterday evening between 7 to 8 pm, a local trader Pramod Aggarwal, was shot and robbed by a gang of three dacoits while he was on his way back home from his shop. If such situations continue to prevail in our city then life will become difficult here. Police administration here is corrupted. Police give us fake assurances.... Now we have decided that until and unless the culprits are arrested, Chhatarpur town will remain shutdown. It will reopen only after their arrest," said Lalchandra Fulwani, a local trader.

Local people have complained of increasing levels of crime-related incidents in the town and said they would observe a complete shutdown in Chhattarpur till the criminals were nabbed. (ANI)
