Tait keen to make up for lost IPL time

Adelaide, Fri, 19 Feb 2010 ANI

Adelaide, Feb.19 (ANI): Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait wants nothing more than to play in the Indian Premier League this year.

Regarded perhaps as the most destructive T20 bowler in the game today, Tait wants the chance to strut his slinging stuff on the game's most glittering stage.

"I've been very keen, the last couple of years I haven't been able to play, so I've been looking forward to the IPL this year so I hope it can go ahead," the Sydney Morning herald quoted Tait, as telling AAP.

"All the security stuff, that's out of my league, but I hope it does go ahead and everything's fine and I can play. I've been thinking about the IPL for a while now, so looking forward to playing," he added.

The tournament's first edition coincided with Tait's self-enforced sabbatical from the game, citing physical and mental exhaustion. Last year, following his return, Tait had been recovering from a serious hamstring tear when the second event took place.

He had reckoned himself fit enough to take part in at least some of the competition for the Rajasthan Royals, but was overruled by Cricket Australia - a decision that rankled at the time.

I've moved on from that, there's nothing I can do about it now," Tait said. (ANI)
