MCCBCHST urges Malaysians not to speculate on religious identity of culprits

Kuala Lumpur, Thu, 28 Jan 2010 ANI

Kuala Lumpur, Jan. 28 (ANI): A non-profit interfaith organization has urged Malaysians not to speculate on the religious identity of the culprits behind the recent desecration of the mosques.

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) has called on people to let police and courts complete their work first.

"Let us not speculate until the police and the courts have done their work," The Star Online quoted MCCBCHST president Rev Dr Thomas Philips, as saying.

He pointed out that the latest incident was carried out by people who wanted to drive a wedge between religious communities in the country.

"Let us stand together and resist such people We, who are law-abiding citizens, must not allow them to succeed in their wicked mission," he said in a statement.

Describing such incidents as "sins of the highest order," he said it was disappointing that such acts in places of worship are continuing unabated. (ANI)
