Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 1 (ANI): Low lying areas and agricultural fields in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda District have submerged following heavy downpour over the past couple of days.
Many parts of Uttar Pradesh are facing the fury of floods and many of the rivers in the region are flowing above the danger mark.
Authorities said that more than 650 villages have been cut off in Uttar Pradesh, as rivers broke through embankments, affecting nearly 1.5 million people.
"The whole village is submerged under water. Boat is the only way to commute. We are using boats to travel and get some food. The administration has helped those whose houses have been submerged in water," said Janak Yadav, a villager.
The authorities have begun rescue and relief operations for the marooned people.
"The people, who have been displaced, have given 25 kg rice, six litres of kerosene oil and five kg of potato. The doctors are there," said Hari Shankar, village officer, Gonda.
