A R Rahman says Australia concerned over attacks on Indians

Chennai, Tue, 19 Jan 2010 ANI

Chennai, Jan 19 (ANI): Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman has said Australian authorities are concerned about the attacks on Indians Down Under and are taking steps to deal with the issue.

Addressing a gathering to mark the launch of an audio album of his upcoming Hollywood movie 'Couples Retreat' here on Monday, Rahman said: "The Australian authorities are doing their best to clear their image.

"The Australian government was really concerned about it and they wanted to clear their name and it is their initiative for helping out me doing the concert and as I told them I think whatever has happened has happened. I think it is always good to forget the past and look into the future what could be done. Rather than aggravating the issue, making it really nasty, it is better to fix it and this was their initiative for a great start and doing well," he added.

Rahman during his recent visit to Australia enthralled a large gathering with his extraordinary musical performance at a free concert in Sydney on January 16.

About his concert, Rahman expressed hopes that his performance would help set a new beginning in India-Australia friendship.

"The concert was a great.... I think it had a very good feeling at the end of it for both them and us. Hope it sets a new beginning," Rahman added. (ANI)
