Moradabad (UP), Jan 17 (ANI): In a bid to make the membership process more transparent, the Congress Party has computerized its membership process in Uttar Pradesh.
The programme is a part of initiative launched by Party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.arty workers involved with the membership drive are equipped with a digital camera, a laptop and membership forms of the Congress Party.
They are visiting remote villages to enhance the mass base of Congress in the rural parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Leaders felt this new campaign would help in reducing errors in membership statistics so that they cannot be doctored.
"We are always equipped with our laptops and digital cameras to produce a picture on the spot, if needed and then proceed to take the mobile number of the new member. It is done so that Rahul Gandhi ,if need be, himself can call and check the veracity of the record of the membership and the entire process of registration. It can be thoroughly checked if the process is really authentic or just a paper filling formality as every detail is there," said Ashraf Ali Saifi, a Congress leader.
"Our target in Uttar Pradesh is to register around 10.1 million members and our campaign is going well and is on its last phase so I hope that our target would be fulfilled cent percent," said K. K. Gupta, another leader. (ANI)
