Zardari denies fissures between US, Pak, including drone attacks

Lahore, Sat, 16 Jan 2010 ANI

Lahore, Jan.16 (ANI): Rejecting reports about differences with the US over the revamped Afghan policy, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that President Barack Obama had taken him into confidence over the issue.

"President Obama had written me a letter which I replied to. He even talked to me on phone before finalising his government's new Afghan policy," The Dawn quoted Zardari, as saying.

"We have had close relations with America for 60 years and now when it has become the sole superpower it has supported establishment of democratic rule in our country," he added.

Interacting with journalists here, Zardari clarified there were no issues between Islamabad and Washington, be it the continuous drone attacks inside the country or the transfer of drone technology.

He said US and Pakistan have different opinions with regard to the transfer of drone know-how's.

"For us this is not an important technology which cannot be given to us. But they (the US) consider it modern technology and are reluctant to it transfer to us," Zardari said. (ANI)
