Hobart, Jan 12(ANI): Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has said that his Pakistani counterpart Kamran Akmal deserves another chance and a place in the third Test in Hobart, which starts here on Thursday.
"I just hope he gets the opportunity to play because he's a good person. We've all had those days and it feels just like quicksand. It feels like you can't fight your way out of it, but it's a new Test match and it gives you a couple of days to get away from the game and have a think about what happened," The Dawn quoted Haddin, as saying.
"He's played 50 Tests, so he's a quality international cricketer and I would be surprised if he didn't come out all guns blazing in this Test match," he added.
Haddin, who is on a high after a match-turning catch, further said that dropped catches can cost the team, and it is absolutely crucial to hold on to every opportunity.
"To hold a catch like that in the situation where the game was at, you needed to take all your half-chances for us to win the game," Haddin said.
The 32-year-old, who had to wait seven years for his first Test after his first one-day international, said he consciously never tried to emulate his predecessors.
"I've actually felt the ball has been going into the gloves for me for the whole summer. If I'd worried about trying to be someone else it would have taken away from my performance. There were obviously greats who came before me and now I have to be the best player that I can be," he added. (ANI)
