Shillong, Oct.12 (ANI): To promote theatre art in Meghalaya, a musical play was staged which also offered a platform to schoolchildren to showcase their talent.
The play was a romantic comedy, based on hit songs popularised by the 70s pop group ABBA. The play was re-enacted by students of Pine Mount School in Shillong.
Mama Mia is a movie about a 20-year-old 'bride-to-be' who tries to find her real father and invites three men, who are probable fathers, to her wedding. She doesn't tell her mother about them believing that after she spends time with them, she will figure out who is her father.
The play enthralled a large number of theatre enthusiasts and music lovers who converged from across the State.
"I've been a fan of the music so I'm enjoying it very much. It is nicely directed and very enjoyable. The play, the performance is very good. The songs are beautiful it really takes us back in time as we grew up with this music," Pushpa, a member of the audience in Shillong.
"Looking at the talent of these youngsters especially these school concerts where they really help to up brings the talent of the students. We really see great talent in Shillong. We are moving ahead in this," said Yoomika Syiem, another audient.
Pine Mount School is committed to the cause of sustaining the theatrical tradition and organises at least one play every year as part of the extra-curricular activities. By D. Henpilen (ANI)
