Shillong, June 17 (ANI): Thousands of believers from all denominations and ethnic communities from the northeast gathered recently at the Malki ground to pray for peace in world.
The occasion was Global Day of Prayer, which was observed in Meghalaya's capital, Shillong. It saw people converging in response to the anguish of mankind caused by war and unrest.
People prayed to seek relief from turbulence in life.
"The world needs a lot of prayers because there are 35 war that are going on around the world. Because of these wars there are a lot of human sufferings, unnecessary death and there are a lot of humanitarian problems, refugees in so many countries and so we really need to pray that God will intervene and bring healing, restoration and peace," said Atola Subong, participant.
"The Global Day of Prayer is an event that brings people from all across the world together. It breaks down castes barriers, denominations barriers so it is a great thing," said Dr. Rishi Jatiani, a participant.
The gathering prayed for peace, better health, resolution of problems in governance and an end to conflicts taking place all over the world that are affecting human lives and valuable resources.
Intercessory prayer, songs, praise and worship and sermons by prominent speakers marked the event.
The people hope that such interventions will help bring peace to the region as well as the rest of the world. (ANI)
