Nagpur, 23 May (ANI) : To curb naxal activities in the state, Maharashtra Home Minister Jayant Patil has said that the time has come now to take significant action.
He further said that such issues cannot be combated by individual states and suggested that all the naxal affected states in the adjoining areas should combine together and form a formidable force to eradicate them.
Subsequently, a joint meeting of Home Ministers of Chhatisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Orissa would be convened in Mumbai shortly to discuss the issue and coordinate action against naxalites.
The help of Central government would also be solicited to create necessary infrastructure.
While speaking to reporters in Gadchiroli after paying homage to the 16 police martyrs who lost their life, the Home Minister assured that apart from the financial aid of Rs.25 lakh, the state government will also provide them facilities which will be in par with the families on inservice employees.
