Marriage to Tom Cruise offered protection against sexual abuse: Nicole Kidman
New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): In an interview to a New York magazine, Nicole Kidman said that she felt protected against sexual harassment after being married to Tom Cruise. The Hollywood couple, who got married in 1990, adopted a son and a daughter before ending their marriage after 11 years. "Being married to Tom Cruise at 22 is something I'm always reluctant to talk about, because I'm married now to the man who is my great love, Keith Urban, and it almost feels disrespectful," Kidman wrote. All this has come in the wake of Hollywood being gripped in the #MeToo movement, with many women coming forward to share their stories of being victims of assault and harassment. Kidman said that she faced similar experiences, but did not want to talk about it. Kidman continued that even though she was working on big films at the time, the marriage had kept her somewhat sheltered. "I would work, but I was still very much cocooned," she said. "So when I came out of the marriage at 32, 33, it's almost like I had to grow up. Kidman continued: "I’m open and raw. I want to have my well of experience and emotion tapped into, used – and I’m not just talking about sexual harassment. I’m talking about loss, death, the full array of life. But it has to be by the right people so it’s not abused again."
