Girl from Naxal stronghold cracks top medical exam

Dornapal (Chhattisgarh), Sept 1(ANI): The Naxal-infested region of Dornapal in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh where teachers hardly dare to step into schools and colleges, 19-year-old Maya Kashyap has been able to grab a seat in a medical college, thereby becoming the first tribal to crack the NEET exam. Without any proper coaching and facilities, Kashyap has been able to achieve this feat and she wants to serve the people of her region with her education. Since childhood, she had only dreamt of becoming a doctor and by cracking the exam, she has come one step closer to its fulfilment. The domination of Naxalites on one side and the poor financial conditions on the other, Kashyap had to overcome several obstacles throughout her journey but all this couldn’t dampen her spirit and determination in realising her ambition. Now Kashyap is all set to study hard and provide her services to the people of the region. Naxals have been dominating these areas for the last many years by indoctrinating the minds of the innocent tribal youth with their fake ideologies and promises, thereby encouraging them to join their group. However, with rising educational opportunities owing to sustained efforts of the government, the situation is gradually transforming and if this continues, Naxals are set to lose the protracted battle of violence.
