Delhites stage protest against felling of trees for re-development
New Delhi, Jul 01 (ANI): People held protest march against felling of trees for re-development in national capital on Sunday. The protest was held by the residents of Delhi’s Safdarjung area. Trees have been cutting down for the re-development of seven South Delhi colonies. The seven colonies include Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and Mohammadpur. The government had announced that it would be cutting several thousands of trees to build over 25,000 flats for government employees. The proposal attracted heavy criticism from green activists, politicians and citizens.
