Raj Ghat Delhi is visited by thousand of visitors every month. People come here to pay homage to Father of Nation. Foreign ministers, dignitaries, Indian ministers, guests, tourists and local all come here to pay respect to the man who believed in non-violence and helped India gain its independence.

A black marble platform is built as a memorial over which last word of Gandhi "Hey Ram" have been engraved. An eternal flame burns here as well.

It is necessary for all visitors to remove their shoe before entering the premise.

Special prayers are held during the birth (2nd October) and death (30th January) anniversary of Gandhi.

History of Raj Ghat:

Raj Ghat was built after the death of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. It was here Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and a memorial was built. The ring road beside has been named Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Gandhi died on 30 January 1948 and he was cremated here on 31 January 1948.

Today it sees around 10,000 national and international visitors everyday.
