Overview or Introduction:
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was originally the residence of Raja Jai Singh during the time of Aurangzeb. It was then known as Jaisinghpura Palace.
8th Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan stayed here for few months when he was summoned by Aurangzeb.
It was redesigned by Sikh General, Sardar Bhagel Singh in 1783.

Brief History of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib:
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara Delhi was originally the home of Raja Jai Singh in 17th century. Mughal Emperor summoned 8th Sikh Guru Har Krishan to his court. Since Guru Har Krishan father has asked him never to meet Aurangzeb he stayed at the house of Jai Singh for few months when he was in Delhi.
During this time smallpox spread in Delhi and Guru Har Krishan helped people by giving them medicines, food and clothes.
Guru Har Krishan himself died because of smallpox and after his death Raja Jai Singh built a Sarovar whose water is considered as Amrit by Sikhs.
