Climate of Delhi is subtropical and is influenced by monsoon. It also has a humid climate. Climate of Delhi varies from extremes of summer and winter temperatures and precipitation.
Summer Season in Delhi (March-August): Summer in Delhi stays a little long and can be felt till the end of August. During the summer season maximum temperature reaches to 46ºc while average temperature is around 30º C. It becomes unbearable in the month of May and June that mark the hottest month of the year in Delhi. During this time hot waves, locally called as Loo are on high.
Monsoon in Delhi: Delhi monsoon is quite unpredictable. Monsoon arrives in Delhi in mid-July and remains till September. During this time showers and heavy rain both can be felt in the city.
Winter in Delhi (mid-October to February): Winter is short in Delhi. Winter in Delhi is very chilly which peaks in at the start at the end of October and continues till the month of February. Cold waves from the Himalayan region makes the temperature fall substantially down to as low as 3 to 4º C in mid-December and mid-January.
During this time dense foggy and chilly weather is felt that reduces the visibility on the streets in Delhi.
Best time to visit Delhi is between October to November during the Autumn season and from February to March in the Spring season because the hot summer is long gone and temperature is bearable. Climate during this time becomes pleasant making it perfect to spend holidays in Delhi and traveling to different tourist spots of Delhi.
