The oldest record in political office is still in the name of this political veteran leader K.R. Gouri reputedly known as Gouri amma who has maintained the political legacy for more than 50 years in the legislative assembly of Kerala state of India. From the year just after the independence in 1953 Gouri amma has been in the political office till now. Even if for her political career she has parted from her husband, she still maintains the charm of her personality as it was when she was making her debut to the politics. As a staunch political figure in the state assembly of the state of Kerala, Gouri Amma has served the downtrodden of the society and has come across many hurdles for the cause of the poor and backward people of the traditional Indian society. K.R. Gouri Amma has been the stalwart of politics in the state in serving many departments of state ministry with the positive results thus bringing effective consequences of her political rule. She stands perhaps as the only politician in India for serving so many years in politics for most of the times as a minister. Gouri Amma was nominated first from the Communist party of India (Marxist) with the aim to serve the cause of the poor peasants in bringing a transition in their dilapidated condition and making them rise above of poverty and illiteracy. She has been the most effective politician whenever she has been on her post. But in 1994 Gouri Amma was expelled from CPI (M) over anti-party activities resulting in the formation of a new party Janathipathiya Sanrakshana Samithy in 1994.
