Woman, two daughters commit suicide after family dispute

Bhopal, May 20 (IANS) An alleged family dispute led a 45-year-old woman to end her life along with her two daughters while the third is battling in a Madhya Pradesh hospital after consuming poison, police said Wednesday.

Geeta Devi, the wife of Harimohan Gupta of Datia town, consumed some poisonous substance along with her three daughters Radha, 20, Neetu, 18 and Kranti, 17, Tuesday night, according to police.

While Geeta, Radha and Neetu were declared dead by doctors after they were taken to a hospital, Kranti was battling for life at Jhansi Medical College.

The Gupta family told the police that Geeta and her three daughters fell ill after they consumed 'prasad', the edible gift given by a saint, at a temple. But neighbours suspected that the four took the extreme step after a dispute in the family.

The neighbour said there was a quarrel on some issue in their family Tuesday.
