Sep 24: The Jharkhand state government has inducted ‘Jharkhand Ratna’ for the first time as the highest award of the state and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be the first proud recipient of this state honour, for successfully spearheading the Team India to Twenty20 World Cup final.
Dhoni will be conferred 'Jharkhand Ratna' honour for making the state proud with his great and consistent performance in the cricketing World.
"Dhoni will be the first recipient of the award, the highest award in the state," Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto said.
The state award is being introduced for the first time and will be presented to Dhoni on the 7th foundation day of anniversary celebration of the Jharkhand state on November 15 at Ranchi.
The Deputy CM lauded the efforts and performance of the team under Dhoni’s captaincy. Dhoni had made the country proud, he said.
"Dhoni has proved his mettle particularly after defeating World champions Australia in the semi-final," he further said.
Mahto also opined that Dhoni as a skipper would easily tackle the tense moments during the final match against Pakistan on Monday.
"The 26-year-old wicket-keeper batsman has the capability to extract the best from his teammates," he stated.
Mahto also appreciated Yuvraj Singh, S Sreesanth, R P Singh, Rohit Sharma and the rest of the teammates for their brilliant performances in the entire tournament of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup.
