Advani establishes big lead in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, May 16 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani has established a big lead in Gujarat's Gandhinagar seat, a poll official said.

Advani took an early lead of 4,000 votes by 9.30 a.m. and was leading by 11,000 votes by 11 a.m. in the second round of counting, a poll official at the counting centre in Gandhinagar said.

At the natuional level, however, the BJP was doing far worse than expected, the initial rounds of counting showed.
