Candidate held for bribing voters in Tamil Nadu

Erode (Tamil Nadu), May 12 (IANS) Three people, including an independent candidate contesting the Lok Sabha polls, were arrested for allegedly bribing voters with free computers in Tamil Nadu, police said Tuesday.

 

The candidate, Karthikeyan, contesting from Tirupur constituency, was caught while soliciting votes with three computers being offered free in the outskirts of Gobichettipalayam in Erode, some 350 km southwest of Chennai, the police alleged.

 

 

A car used to carry the computers was also seized, police officials added.

 

 

Karthikeyan refused to comment on the issue after he was released by police.
