Bathinda (Punjab), May 7 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's wife Surinder Kaur cut a sorry figure by driving into a polling station to cast her vote Thursday. But she offered an apology when the lapse was pointed out to her.
The chief minister, protected by Z-plus category security, alighted from his official vehicle to walk to a polling station. However, Surinder Kaur violated rules by driving into the complex housing the polling station in Lambi, the ancestral village of the Badal family.
Offering an apology, she claimed that she was unaware of the rule prohibiting people from driving into polling stations.
'The policemen also did not stop our vehicles,' she claimed.
Badal and his nephew, Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, were among the first to cast their votes in Lambi village.
