Chasing an improbable 617 to win the third cricket Test in Wellington Monday, the Kiwis has only six wickets left in their second innings when the match was suspended due to bad light on the third day.
The Kiwis were at 167 for four and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has had a good time on the field as the bowlers, especially paceman Zaheer Khan and spinner Harbhajan Singh again shared the four, two wickets each.
Martin Guptill (49) and Ross Taylor (not out 69) had taken the score to 84 when Guptil trapped lbw by Harbhajan. Two balls later Jesse Ryder handed one ball to Dravid in the slip; Ryder again failed to hold a mark in this Test.
Earlier, Indian resuming their overnight score of 349 – a 531 run ahead – batted another 18.1 overs adding 85 runs, with an overall lead of 616 runs. Captain MS Dhoni called off the innings after he registered his 16th Test fifity.
The match also brought another record for Rahul Dravid who surpassed the Australian Mark Waugh (181 in 128 Tests) for the most number of Test catches, his 182nd in the 134th Test.
