The Rajasthan High Court rapped the concerned state officials for allowing shooting of ‘Veer’ starring Salman Khan in the historical protected monument – Amer Fort which wall was damaged during shooting on Thursday and ordered to stall the shooting.
Taking serious note of the incident caused injury of 15 persons, a Division Bench comprising Justice Ashok Parihar and Justice G S Sarraf also issued notice to the state government asking why compensation should not be recovered from erring officers and film producer for the damage to public property and injuries caused to people owing to collapse of wall.
“Unfortunately, not only the public but especially the concerned authorities have become blind, deaf and dumb in the glitter of money. In recent past, historical protected monuments have become commercial source of income. When the government and public authorities indulge in such practice, a great havoc creates resulting in chaos all around,” the bench remarked coming down heavily on malpractice being nurtured by authorities.
“The mishap in Amer Fort is a glaring instance of such malpractice,” the bench said underscoring the original landscape of the main courtyard at the entrance of the palace has been razed.
In the shot, Salman was riding a horse on the top of the fort and fighting a gigantic white skinned wrestler, when the thin and old wall collapsed after thousands of maddening crowd trying to climb over it and got injured in their attempt to take a glimpse of their adored hero.
The shooting was taking place for three days and had entered the fourth day on Friday when the high court order came. Saturday was to be the fifth and final day.
In spite of the mishap on Thursday, hundreds of people, especially children, had come to see the shooting on Friday but had to return disappointed after the ban.
