Aug 02: Heavy rains and rivers flowing above the danger mark has disturbed the life of Bihar especially north Bihar where water deluge has encroached everywhere on land breaking embankments.
This monsoon predicted very good for the economy of the country by the finance minister is playing havoc with the people of North Bihar as it displaced over seven million people of 500 villages suspending every social, economic, political and routine activity of people.
Railway tracks are submerged in rainwater and transportation system has been paralysed. Schools and hospitals have been closed for indefinite period adding to the list of problems of public. Supply of daily essentials has been blocked compelling people to bank on the available meager resources.
Rain and rivers as receding slowly ( but still over the water mark) as predicted by the meteorological department leaves a long trail of following problems such as safe and clean drinking water, food problems, epidemics, and restoration of the transport system.
Darbhanga and Samastipur, the victims of the wrath of surging Kareh river remained cut off from other areas. Other areas suffering from floods are Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj Champaran, Saharsa, Supaul and Purnia.
Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav urged the center to provide its assistance for relief to flood affected areas. To the foreign trip of the incumbent CM he termed as ‘criminal negligence’. RJD president blamed Nitish Kumar of not taking the situation seriously.
This is to be illuminated that since monsoon coming to north the main rivers of north Bihar the Gandak, the Burhi Gandak, Bagmati, Kosi Mahananda, Punpun and other minor rivers are flowing over the mark of danger and disturbing the daily life of people.
