Mohali (Punjab), Dec 16 (IANS) A man who escaped from police custody when he was admitted to the emergency ward of a hospital, was arrested in Punjab, a police official said Tuesday.
The police have arrested Ravinder Singh, a proclaimed offender, and his two accomplices Gurvinder Singh and Gurjeet Singh from near Kroda village in Mohali district.
'On a tip-off from a source, we stopped an SUV and arrested the trio. We also recovered a .12 bore pistol, a .30 bore Chinese pistol, a .303 bore pistol and 15 live cartridges from their possession,' Jatinder Singh Aulakh, senior superintendent of police, told media persons here Tuesday evening.
Ravinder Singh faces multiple charges like fake currency racket, kidnapping and attempt to murder. He escaped from the police custody Dec 4 while he was admitted to the emergency ward of Rajindra Hospital in Patiala district, about 40 km from here.
Ravinder was arrested after a shoot-out with Punjab police Dec 1 at Zirakpur town.
However, he escaped with the help of his accomplices. They killed Raghubir Singh, a policeman, who was crushed under the wheels of the SUV that was used in the crime.
