Srinagar, Dec 13 (ANI): Approximately 57 percent Jammu and Kashmir voters exercised their franchise in the fifth phase Assembly elections today.
In the fifth phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, 11 constituencies spread over three districts of Kathua, Pulwama and Shopian went to the polls.
A round 60 percent polling was recorded in Bani till 2 p.m., while the lowest of 27.5 percent was recorded at Wachi constituencies.
According to tentative figures, Tral polled 35 percent, Pampore 31, Pulwama 28 and Rajpora 30 percent.
In Shopian, 34 percent votes were polled while 46 percent was recorded at Basohli and 45 percent in Kathua. Billawar recorded 50 percent and Heera Nagar 41 percent till 2 p.m.
A total of 179 candidates including five women and 58 independents are in the fray.
Pulwama district in Kashmir Valley has the highest number of candidates at 73, followed by 66 in Kathua and 40 in Shopian district. (ANI)
