Ranchi, Dec 12 (IANS) Six men Friday robbed Rs.900,000 at gun point from a bank in Jharkhand's Chhatra district, the police said.
Six unidentified men, who came on two motorcycles, struck at Gramin Bank in Chhatra district's Sheela village, which is about 190 km from here, the police said.
Four men entered the bank where one guard was on duty and the cashier was inside the premises. The men overpowered both of them and robbed Rs.900,000 at gun point.
The police have launched an operation to arrest the robbers.
cases of bank robberies are becoming common in Jharkhand. In May this year, Maoist rebels looted Rs.50 million and one kg gold from the delivery van of the ICICI Bank on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway. Over 50 bank dacoities have taken place place in last seven years.
