Beijing, Dec 4 (Xinhua) China and India will conduct a joint anti-terror military exercise Dec 6-14 in southern Indian state of Karnataka, defence ministry spokesman Huang Xueping said here Thursday.
The exercise code-named 'Hand in Hand 2008', will be conducted in Belgaum district. The Chinese contingent, comprising 137 soldiers, already arrived at the training site, he said.
The programme is organised as part of a defence exchange and cooperation agreement signed by the two countries in 2006, Huang said. It will also enhance understanding and trust between the two armies, he added.
The nine-day exercise will include weapons and other equipments as well as communication tactics. The two countries held their first joint anti-terrorism training last year in Kunming in southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan.
