The 6th edition of Tata Open Golf Tournament 08-09 kick started at Beldih and Golmuri golf courses in Jamshedpur today and will be concluded on December 6. One of the highlights of the Indian golf calendar, the Tata Open carries a total prize purse of Rs. 20 lakh.
Under the aegis of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) for the third time, some of the PGTI’s top professionals will take part in the 72-hole stroke play championship.
Prior to the main event, the Pro-Am event was won by PGTI member Uttam Singh Mundy’s (38) team with a total of 110 points, while PGTI member Naman Dawar’s (37) team came in second with a team total of 107 points.
The Pro-Am event was played in the modified stableford format wherein each team comprised one professional and three amateurs. Stableford points were worked out on a gross score and these points plus the player’s handicap aggregated towards the total points scored.
