Panchkula (Haryana), Nov 25 (IANS) Two armymen were arrested Tuesday for allegedly raping the wife of an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel at an armed forces hospital here, said an official.
'The police have arrested Naik Hottam Singh and Naik Ifthikar Khan. The Haryana police had submitted an application at the Indian Army office here Monday evening, seeking their arrest,' Ashish Goyal, army spokesperson, told IANS.
A police official said: 'Two of the accused have been arrested and our investigations are on. We are still waiting for some more medical reports and the forensic report to come. We had recorded the statement of the victim Monday before the judicial magistrate.'
The 38-year-old woman alleged she was raped Saturday at the Western Command Hospital in Chandimandir in Panchkula district, around 10 km from Chandigarh.
The victim's husband is posted at Jamnagar town in Gujarat, while she stays here with her two children in army-provided accommodation.
'The victim had gone for physiotherapy treatment at the Western Command Hospital at Chandimandir Saturday. After her treatment she went to see one of her relative who is also admitted in the same hospital,' said the investigating officer of the case.
'On her way, the ward-in-charge of urosurgical department, Hottam Singh with the help of nursing attendant Iftikhar Khan forcibly dragged the woman to the adjoining dining hall and raped her,' he added.
According to the complaint, a third person identified as Raj filmed the crime and molested the victim.
'The victim, who is a native of Bihar, knew both the accused as her husband was admitted in the hospital a few months back and at that time the woman came in contact with them. After committing the crime, Hottam called the victim and threatened her of dire consequences if she approaches the police,' said the investigating officer.
