July 09: The Swiss Federer and the grass court master again produced an exciting Wimbledon final defeating young Spaniard and ace rival Rafael Nadal. The match that lasted for 3 hours and 45 min ended with the 5th set win by Federer.

Roger Federer won his fifth successive title and equals with the Bjorn Borg’s record. After completing the final set the overjoyed and emotional Roger fell down the ground and started crying clutching his face and so the supporters.

In Federer’s words, "I was crying already when I was up 5-2 in the last set. So many things were going through my mind. I had to focus on that last point." It is really a marvelous match with a matchless contest as one watch the live telecast in TV or direct from the Centre Court.

Neither Nadal nor Federer can be compared with each other as one is the champion in the clay court and other in the grass. But again it is Federer’s serve in the grass court from which Nadal has to learn a lot. The difference can be very well seen from the aces, where Federer had 24 compared to Nadal’s only one.

No doubt Federer again showed that he is the master, the champion of grass court after defeating Nadal 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-2 and his fifth consecutive men’s singles championship.

Both the players faced two times in two consecutive Wimbledon and French Open finals. It was Nadal who took away both the French Open trophies played on the clay court and Federer in the grass court ( Wimbledon). This time it was not enough for Nadal to defeat Federer in a surface where only Federer is outstanding in his serve though Nadal did able to break it three times.

Nadal did get equal chance after breaking Federer’s serve three times but lost two tie breakers that made much difference in the match.

It is Federer’s 11th Grand Slam win and now he is eyeing to match the record of all time champion Pete Sampras’s 14 titles. Also he will try to match Sampras’s seven Wimbledon wins. These eleven titles include three U.S. Opens and three Australian Opens but Federer is yet to win in French Opens.

Federer while talking about Nadal told that Rafael did improve a lot this time with a proper game plan than the previous one. It was the sixth game of the 5th set that Roger broke Nadal’s serve and this brought him closer to match the match-point.

He's a fantastic player and is going to be around for so much longer so I'm happy I get one now before he takes them all, Federer added.
