18 schoolchildren injured as bus overturns in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 20 (IANS) Eighteen schoolchildren were injured Thursday when a bus carrying them overturned in Bokaro district of Jharkhand, the police said.


According to the police, the bus carrying about 30 children of Aiyappa Public School overturned Thursday morning near sector one of Bokaro Steel city, about 140 km from Ranchi. The driver of the bus lost control while passing through a roundabout.



The bus driver told the police that he lost control after he tried to save two people coming from the opposite side on a scooter.



Four children were discharged after first aid. The condition of five children was said to be serious. The injured students have been admitted to the Bokaro General Hospital.



The bus driver has been detained by the police.
