July 06: Australian Lleyton Hewitt in a thrilling match lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic who played brilliantly in the four-set match last night.

The Serb Novak Djokovic played giftedly from the very start of the game and own the first two sets with tight fight. The 2002 Wimbledon champion Hewit doesn’t look in form at all though fought to come back into the game after winning the third set in 6-4.

The minus point for Hewitt was that he didn’t capitalize set points. The first set and the last set was amazing to watch as the young Serb played coolly with number of striking aces. The first set that lasted for an hour constitutes one point in the tie breaking that ends with a long rally of 40 strokes.

Hewitt later had two set points but Novak showed no sign of novice and saved the both. The fourth seed Australian finally able to grab the third set.

Djokovic took an injury time out soon after the third set after a back injury and then in the fourth set Hewitt had to serve with a 5-4 lead. But Djokovic hit back and showing his talent wrap up the game.

Like the first round the fourth was also thrilling to watch and finally the Serb ended Hewitt’s run in this Wimbledon with a 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (7-2) 4-6 7-6 (7-5) victory.

Now Novak has to play with Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis who defeated Russian Nikolay Davydenko in 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-5) 6-3.

Expressing his happiness Djokovic told that this match means a lot and he is looking forward to face Baghdatis who is a fantastic player.

Once World No.1 Hewitt is currently ranked 19 th and with his defeat Australian hope for Wimbledon in the men’s singles title ended. It was always tough to beat a player like Hewitt and only a good and promising player like Novak Djokovic whose powerful serve and forehand indeed forced Hewitt on to the back foot.

The coming match between Djokovic and Baghdatis is expected to be another gripping as Baghdatis was one of the semi-finalists in the last Wimbledon.
